About IFBLS

The International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS), formerly the International Association of Medical Laboratory Technologists (IAMLT), is an international proffesional organization, which consist of associations of medical laboratory technologist/scientists from approximately 40 countries. IFBLS holds the world congress biennially providing networking opportunities in an educational forum and enhancing proffessional developments. All members associations belonging to the IFBLS are automatically members of the IFBLS. (www.ifbls.org)

Vision and Mission
Objectives
The objectives of IFBLS are:
To support, advance and promote good laboratory practice through the development and adherence to high quality standards in diverse environments throughout the world;
To support, advance and promote the education, training and professional development of Biomedical Laboratory Scientists and technologists;
To support, advance and promote ethical and professional values in the biomedical laboratory profession;
To promote the exchange of ideas and the active participation of biomedical laboratory professionals through seminars, research and educational forums;
To promote the coordination of activities within the healthcare and biomedical laboratory professions,through the development of international partnerships and programs and;
To support, promote and advance such activities of the Corporation as are incidental and ancillary to the foregoing objects.

IFBLS Code of Ethics
Biomedical Laboratory Scientists shall:
· Be dedicated to the use of clinical laboratory science to benefit mankind
· Actively seek to establish cooperative and specific working relationships with other health professionals
· Provide expertise to advise and counsel other health professionals
· Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and test results
· Safeguard the dignity and privacy of patients
· Be responsible for the logical process from the acquisition of the specimen to the production of data and the final report of the test result
· Be accountable for the quality and integrity of clinical laboratory services
· Exercise professional judgement, skill and care while meeting established standards
· Uphold and maintain the dignity and respect of the profession and strive to maintain a reputation of honesty, integrity and reliability
· Strive to improve professional skills and knowwledge and adopt scientific advances that benefit the patient and improve the delivery of test results

IFBLS Mission Statement
IFBLS is a global organisation working to increase opportunities for the development of laboratory professionals through education and partnership.
A biennial congress provides networking opportunities in an educational forum while electronic communication facilitates and enhances professional developments.
IFBLS promotes good laboratory practice (GLP) through quality standards in diverse environments.
